Total Part 2 -- Deadlifts
Thursday, December 03, 2009 5:47 PM
Today was part 2 of Crossfit Total. 1-1-1 Deadlifts I really wanted to reach 200 today. Alas, it was not to be. But I still PR'd. Here's how it turned out: 160-185- 205 I probably shouldn't have gone for 205. I got a little ambitious there, but my classmates said the bar actually left the ground. Zach pulled me aside and told me what to do -- forget about everything... Read More...

A day of personal records
Tuesday, December 01, 2009 6:24 PM
I usually look forward to Crossfit Total -- the max strength workout we do every 3 months. But last night I fretted. I had looked back at my previous max weights and was trying to envision myself reaching a new goal. Instead, I vividly remembered the strain in my legs and arms and how I actually fell forward on a back squat. SCRATCH. OK, so I was a little nervous... Read More...

Overcoming barriers I put in front of myself

If ever I doubted the power of mental preparation -- well -- I don't anymore. I talked about this the last time I did Crossfit Total , and how I improved. This time, I not only brought... Crossfit Total -- Part 1
Tuesday, September 01, 2009 5:29 PM
It's the first of the month, which means a benchmark workout at Crossfit. This month's benchmark -- Crossfit Total. WOD: Max lift 1-1-1 Back squat Shoulder press I thought I increased my max on the back squat until I looked all the way back to the first time I did this workout . This time I did 115-125-135. It was nearly identical to the back squats I... Read More...

Max weight -- Clean and Jerk
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 5:14 AM
We did some Olympic weightlifting in Crossfit this morning. I love this stuff. Although the weight I can lift still remains relatively light, in the 6 months since I've started Crossfit, I've noticed significant gains -- not just in the weight, but also in my form, aggressiveness (with performing the move), and confidence. WOD: Max weight Clean and Jerk... Read More...
