Animal House

Cindy, Andy and Luke have two dogs:

Bennie- a Treeing Walker Coonhound. We adopted her in December 2002 from the Nashville Humane Association. We adopted Bennie just a few months after Goose.

Goose- a lab mix. This dog is very attached to Cindy, and has become the Alpha dog. She initially had trouble adjusting to Luke, but we hired a trainer, who helped us work with her.  Lauren Hays -- who runs Austin Canine Consulting -- was right onwith her suggestions about how to help Goose accept Luke. And she helped us train the dogs to walk well on the leash!

Before moving to Austin, Cindy helped to organize a group called Greater Nashville Animal Welfare. It's dedicated to educating the public about why dogs should not be tied outside 24-7.  We are starting out slowly by putting together a grassroots educational campaign and eventually hope to bring about new legislation designed to outlaw continual tethering.  For more information, check out GNAW's website.  You may also see the 7 minute video I produced for GNAW.
